Dear Bloggie,

2008 Year End Trip

Day 2 (Taipei)

Thou I slept late the night before, but I woke up bright and cheery! Getting ready to start my day... =)

I had a Queen size bed all to myself and Hipopo, and 4 pillows!

I stayed at Rainbow Hotel. it is located in the middle of Ximending. Day time Ximending where all the shops are still not open, and still pretty much empty. And err.. its cold.

Ximending MTR... I've seen countless variety shows and dramas showing this sence, the feeling is so surreal seeing it with my own eyes...

Their MTR station.

Me in the MTR...

And this is my first destination for the day - Chiang Kei-Shek Memorial Hall. This is a pledge at the MTR station... It reminds me of 周杰伦's 不能说的秘密's Logo... Guess this might be where the insiration comes from. But ermm... Guess he dont take MTR right. =p

Being my virgin trip to Taiwan, of coz got to do all the Touristy stuff... I will use 'Impressive' to describe this palce. It sits on quite a huge piece of land (that our little island will never have the luxury) and the architect looks good.

Its around 12noon when I reach, with the Sun shinning down, the tempereture is really comfortable. Guess its around 18 - 20 oC, with plenty of Sunlight. =)

Took a train down to this station... 忠孝复兴. I exited the wrong exit, and landed up at Sogo. I got hungry.. So bought this Katsu Sandwitch for NTD 99.

This is my First Food in Taipei, and it did not fail me... This little piece of Sandwitch, is Delicious!!

While eating as I walked... I got to the correct place. East Metro Mall... And the damage here are 1 pair of shoes, 1 pair of boots and some socks. The boots cost me NTD 599! And its also here, I bought all the 我的美丽日记mask... Which is a big big mistake, coz its really heavy.

Satisfied with my shopping, I made my way down to Sun Yat Sun Memorial Hall. This place is not as impressive as Chiang Kai Shek, guess the Taiwanese adore Mr. Chiang more.

Looks a little shabby as compared to the CKS Memorial Hall right...

Walked a little detour to this place for Lunch...

This place... is really really fantastic. I'm so glad I made the detour and got a little lost in the process.

I ordered a set meal... Which comes with all the food you'll see below.

This is my appetizer. I had a Fruit Salad... They have 4 types for you to chose from.

Chicken Soup... (Once again, there are around 4 choices)

This is the High-light... You either chose Pork or Beef, and I took Pork. There are 3 different types of Pork here, and every single piece is so well-marinated that it is simply Delicous! That little pot there is Chicken, a 'side' to go with your 'main'...

Take a look at that... It's BBQ over hot Charcoal...

This is part of the meal... I had Lemon Lime Aloe Vera.

You can chose a Rice or Soup for the Stone Bowl dish... I took Mushroom Soup as I think I cannot eat another mouth of rice after so much food.

And its time for Desert!

While waiting for the bill to come, I'm served this Green Tea with Ai Yu and Mint Sweets... And this meal, cost me NTD 600+. Super cheap!!

After a fabulous meal and topped it off with the cooling weather... I took a nice long stroll to Taipei 101. Maps wasnt required, I simply look up and walk towards the landmark... =) Oh, their pedestrain crossing are marked in such a way where they separate the cyclist and pedestrian. I like this idea!

Told you no maps are requried... Just look up and there's no way you'll miss the Landmark.

Its getting bigger and bigger... I'm getting closer and closer...

And this is one unqiue X'mas Tree I saw in Taipei 101. Its Orange... Its Hermes. =)

Bought my tickets... To embark on the Tallest Building (for now).

Took the lift up to 89th floor. It took less then 40 seconds...

I didnt manage to get a super good view as its foggy that day. But nevertheless, been there done that. =)

Cant remember the name for this... But this is the thing that is supposed to ensure the Building's stability... But sure how could this Ball-like thing aids in letting a Building with such height stay erected even during Earthquark... But the sleek and clean design got me a little smitten.

On my way out of Taipei 101, caught this Pretty Trio playing Christmas Carols...

And this is right outside Taipei 101. *make a silent wish that I get one such tree tomorrow* Isnt this every girl's dream??

As the sky darkens (thou its only around 5pm), I crossed over to New York New York. I do not really like the shopping in Taipei's departmental store... It is nothing like Singapore and Hongkong. Its like.. One building with endless some booths inside.

I simply walked one round and I make my way out of New York New York... By then, my feet are aching real bad. So I seat down for a drink... The Donuts are for breakfast the next day... I'm not that pig, still very full from Lunch.

My shopping thus far. the Muji paper bag is the killer. All the mask are damn heavy.. So friends who recieved these mask as my 守信, please appreicate it.. I lug it the entire day, and it resulted in a muscle ache the following day.

This photo is taken at 5.45pm. But it looks like the 8pm sky... I'm at the 诚品信书店. I always had something for Books, love reading it and love buying it. But... I'm really too too too tired. So I didnt go in.

All I managed to do is to stand there and take some photos with the gorgeous lighting as the background.

And then... I went back to Ximending. And retire back to the Hotel.

Put the shopping down, and wore my new boots out. Its super comfy!!

Walked around Ximending, they have this free show screening... People just randomly bring their own chair and equipped with the snacks... Super nice feeling.

The main transportation channel in Taipei...

鸡蛋糕。。Its quite tasty. NTD 25.

珍珠奶茶。。And of coz... The famous 阿宗面线。

The queue is quite long, and the whole area is full of people standing around eating it.

This is some Satay thing... I tried, not nice.

台湾香肠!This is super delicous can... Nothing like the ones we had in Singapore. They had it in various flavour. The sussage is the same, just that while BBQ-ing it, the lady will spread the different flavours on it. After I da-bao my food, I walked back to the Hotel to eat. The Taiwan variety shows are damn good. I can stay in the entire day and just watch TV.. =p

The 阿宗面线 is over-rated. It is nice, but not that Fantastic... I ate slightly less then half a bowl only..

And... This is the high-light of the night. Its a cold chilly night... I am very tired and cold. But this 台湾香肠 managed to 'wow' me after the first bite... =p

With that... It ended my 2nd Day in Taipei. =)
