This is a long over-due post... But still, better late then nothing. =) This is my virgin road trip to Malaysia with QH and her Poly Friends. It's simply a 'on-the-road' and 'eat-and-eat' trip.. Many laughter and many rain... I had fun. =)
We meet up at Jalan Kayu for Lunch and around 2pm, we proceed to Woodlands Causeway Immigration. There was a jam, but nevertheless, 8 of us in 2 cars arrived in Johor just after 5pm.
CW said he had sent an email to the 'Authorities-up-there' for good weather, but apparently... the 'Authorities-up-there' did not answer his prayers. =p
Me and QH in Fried Rice's car... Fried Rice rendered real 'good service'... Hehe, constantly checking with us if we need sweets and water, and if the air-con temperature is correct. My only complain... the only Mandarin Songs he has are from the 1990s. =p
CW was in the same car with us...
And Fried Rice behind the wheels... He... camara shy. =p
And we begin our long long journey on the North-South Highway...
Sun has set when we reached Malacca... Our first stop is to Jonker Walk.
It was still raining when we reached... And there is only 1 umbrella for 8 of us. So we offered it to the ST's wifey... who is preggie! =) So... we are all drenched.
They had wanted to eat the famous Nonya Laksa, but the rain was too big for us to navigate to find the place. And a Hungry Man is a Grouchy Man, so they venture into the 'small lane' and decided to stop for Dinner at the first joint they saw. Err... This is something very new for me; I dont usually dine at Road Side Store...
We were sitted along the corridoor of some shophouses. It is still raining heavily, and all of us are wet and hungry. And on thing about this Jonker Walk... It is dotted with Red Latterns and Red Lights... Which I found a little eerie and kind of like a Red Light District.
Our starters... Malacca Fried Kway Tiao. Err... so-so only.
This is what I meant by Red Lanterns everywhere... They are simply everywhere. I begin to suspect this might be the Lunar New Year Decorations that they have yet to removed.
Wantan Mee... I know QH does not like it. I'm already quite full from my Fried Kway Tiao hence I dont really fancy it too... The guys displayed typical Singapore spirit of 'Kiasu-ism'. They Wantan Mee came in 3 sizes... Small - RM 2.50, Medium - RM 2.80, Large - RM 3.20. They wored out that the different in SGD is so inmaterial, so they ordered it Large. and boy... it did came as Large! The noodles mountained and its like 2 portion of the regular Wantan Mee we usually have in Singapore. -_-"
And our Desert... this is Super Yummy!! Me Love! Its super soft and smooth... And as I'm typing this, I am still thinking of the Tao Huay... =p
The rain stopped as we finished Dinner... and we walked back to the 'Main Street'.. More Red Lantern along the way...
After the rain, Jonker Walk is real crowded... And we identified many fellow Singaporeans simply base on our accent. We are SO easily identifiable. =p
Malacca is rich in nonya culture (I think)... Many of the shophouses still eludes the beautiful engravings on the walls... Pretty, me like! And yar... more Red Lanterns. =p QH's friends were busy shopping, while QH and myself are hanging around waiting for them... Like what Fried Rice said, QH and I do not shop at 'Pasar Malam'... *smile*
Close to 11pm, and we hit the road again... Our next stop - Muar (I think). We stopped by for more food, before arriving at our first pit stop. This apparently is a place where they serve good Dried Mee Hoon Kway. Yupz... more Road Side Stores... -_-"
Ermm... As I am still VERY full from my Fried Kway Tiao, Wantan Mee and Tao Hway, I find this Dried Mee Hoon Kway is so-so too... =p
Reached CW's Granny House just after 1.30am... Our first and only Pit Stop where we stopped for some rest and shower. I am up to the brim with Food, so I could not sleep. I ended up lying on the bed with QH... chatting till 2.30am and took a quick shower. By 3am, everyone was up and the guys checked on their Cars before we hit the road. =)
Stopped by a Prata Shop for some Kopi and Teh..
The Prata Shop is pretty crowded at 3.30am... Noticed that everyone is sitted facing 1 direction...
That is coz... there is a Soccer Match on. Guys... *roll eye*
After the Kopi Break, we hit the road again... Back to the North South Highway... CW took the picture and according to him... that spot of light is the Moon. Anyway... you will NEVER believe where is our next Destination... -_-
MacDonald's... serious!! I'm not kidding. Fried Rice really took care of us real well for this trip, feeding us every alternate hour. Its around 5+ in the morning, barely 4 hours after the Dried Mee Hoon Kway and the Teh is still somewhere in me.
A rather empty MacDonald's at 5 plus in the morning...
*sigh* Shared a Muffin with QH... The guys will not rest till we had a bit of food...
Everyone is goggy with only 1 hour of rest... And oh, this is the Couple's table.
And where's our next Stop... Genting! We reached Genting at 7am, the Sun is a little late that day... so I did not manage to see it climbing up the Mountain. *Disappointed* The moment I got out of the car, its 'cold de loh'. -_-" I under-estimate the weather, and is seriously not dressed for the 17 degree climate. I wore a thin Dorothy Perkins Top with a H&M Cardi, together with a Bermudas with Black Leggings. *shudder*
Everyone made a bee-line to the Casino upon Arrival, and at 7am no shops are opened hence I also ended up at the Casino. This is the first time, I seat down on the Table and played. The whole morning, they are stuck at the ‘三只公’table. It resulted in me spending RM 50 and 3hours. Conclusion: I am not really that interested in Gamling; but still its kind of fun. QH has fun 'Diversifying' her assets and 'Analysing and Investing'. =p
QH and I left the Casino just before 10am, thinking we can do some shopping. Unfortunately, the shops are still not opened, so we stopped for a cup of Tea and Muffins at Kenny Rogers. Yupz... more food. -_-
We finished our shopping around 12+, and thought its time for us to proceed to our next destination... Called up the rest, who are still in the Casino and arranged to meet at the Cars... Saw the part of 6 walking towards us grinning from ear to ear... the Guys all walked away from extra cash from Casino. Then...
*thunder and lightning*
ST realized he lost his Car Keys... O_O
With the 4 Girls watching over the Cars, the Guys went back to the Casino to try find the keys... And just as expected... they cant find the keys... *sigh*
At 2pm... the Guys worked out a plan. We had a quick Lunch of a RM 1 Nasi Lemak that Fried Rice had bought before we go up Genting... And its decided that we split up into 3 Group... 1 Group will stay behind and watch over the Car, 1 Group to proceed back to Singapore to retrieve the Spare Key, 1 Group to go down to KL and wait (and shop) at a Shopping Centre.
*sigh*
So... I am in the 'wait-and-shop-at-Pavilion' Group.
Thus far.. its All Food and No Rest. And with the Lost Key issue, we totally have no mood to shop, despite the Prada at Pavilion has quite a interesting collection. =p QH called her Dad, who dropped by to pick us up. Before that, we stopped by Crystal Jade for some Desert... *sigh* more food. -_-
QH's Dad house is a 20min car trip away from Pavilion... We stayed at his house 2 years back when we were at KL for our Annual Shopping Trip... Slight modifications was done to the House, but still as pretty as I remembered it... I Love the Koi Pond covered with Glass which served as a Platform in the Living Room...
Finally, by 6+ in the evening... After much phone calls and help from all sectors, we manage to find a solution for the Lost Key. A Mechanic managed to force open the car door, disabled the car alarm system, removed the steering wheel lock thingie, did something to the 'starter', and force-start the car.
CW and ST finally got the car started and meet up with us at 8pm at KL... QH's Dad bought us to this Road Side Cze Char Store... Yupz, Road Side Store again...
We reached slightly before 9pm... But look at the crowd!
The Road Side Kitchen churnning out all the Yummy Food...
I think they are famous for their Steam Fish Head, which unfortunately... all the 'Young People' at the table dont really know how to appreciate... But nevertheless, its a Yummy Meal!
After the meal, we bid our Goodbye and made our way back to Singapore. At 10pm on a Sunday night, I am still at KL... The thought still freaked me out. We are over 300km away from Johor. -_-" QH ordered ST and CW to maintain a speed of 110km/hr and we manage to reached Johor at 1.40am!
I am... tired.
We went back to Sengkang, to meet up with the Group who returned earlier to retrieve the keys... The Guys are Real Gentleman, they could have retire early upon reaching Singapore, but they hang around Sengkang and wait for our Arrival instead... Good Friends QH have!
Reached home around 2.30am... And with this, it ended my 2D1N Virgin Road Trip to M'sia. =)
